As the end of the year approaches and the holidays get into full swing, many citizens and officials are beginning to focus on highway safety. The Nashville Car Accident Lawyers with Michael D. Ponce and Associates explain this focus may partially be due to an increase in fatal collisions in the state.
According to an article from The Tennessean, the state recorded a total of 888 fatal accidents by the beginning of November. The numbers being reported from certain areas in the state are even more distubring. Bedford County reported its number of highway fatalities recently doubled, while Maury County says it has seen three times as many fatal accidents compared to last year’s total.
The state is working to curb the problem though, by working with state and local law enforcement agencies to provide funding for additional campaigns and manpower aimed at taking the most dangerous drivers off the road.
Statistics show drunk driving is a leading cause of fatal accidents. That is why the Governor’s Highway Safety Office is providing grants to allow law enforcement agencies to regularly conduct sobriety checkpoints.
Michael D. Ponce & Associates and their team of Nashville Personal Injury Lawyers recognize the dangers drivers face and ask motorists to do their part to stay safe by slowing down, buckling up, and always driving defensively.
