Summer is just around the corner, which means swimming pools will soon be open for the season. Although swimming pools can provide hours of summer fun for your family and the community around you, it’s important that you take necessary precautions to ensure the safety of those who use it.
Here are 3 safety tips for Nashville pool owners:
- Keep your pool locked and secured. Many of the deaths that occur in swimming pools happen when there’s no supervision present. Keep the gate to your pool locked at all times when you are not using it. If you don’t currently have a gate around your pool, consider putting one up before the summer season. It could save a life.
- Never leave children unattended. Even a momentary lapse of concentration when supervising children swimming can lead to disaster. Make sure you’re alert and aware while your children are swimming and never leave swimmers unattended, even for a few minutes.
- Learn CPR. Being prepared in the event of an accident gives you the best chance of saving a life. Get certified by a reputable organization. Some very basic CPR knowledge can go a long way in an emergency.
Summer is such a special time in our children’s lives. If you have a swimming pool, help us make this summer accident free for Nashville by being prepared now.
