April is Youth Sports Safety Month

Spring is in the air in Middle Tennessee, and for many, it’s time to take to the athletic fields again! As sports season approaches, the Nashville Injury Attorneys with Ponce Law would like to take a moment to remind players and their parents of the dangers athletic injuries can pose, which is why April has been declared Youth Sports Safety Month.

One of our attorneys, Daniel Brooks, has played soccer since the age of four and has coached for six years. He is now in his first season as the assistant coach at Merrol Hyde Magnet School and offers some great information on common injuries he sees and how to avoid them.

Coach Brooks explains that pulled muscles are likely the most common and one of the most debilitating injuries players suffer on the field. There are typically several usual suspects when it comes to this type of Personal Injury, including a lack of stretching and proper conditioning.

He says that children’s bodies are constantly growing, which is why their muscles may not be able to handle the stress of training if they have not been conditioning in the off-season. The organization, Stop Sports Injuries, offers players Conditioning Tips that will help them be prepared to play all year long.

Michael D. Ponce & Associates are hopeful all of those participating in sports this spring and summer have a successful and safe season!
