As Temperatures Increase, So Do Nashville Motorcycle Accidents

The weather has been hot in Nashville, which has led to an increasing number of motorcycles on the road. Unfortunately, the increase in bike volume is typically accompanied by an increase in motorcycle accidents—many of which are unavoidable for bikers.

Take the Nashville motorcycle accident that claimed one biker’s life yesterday. Reports indicate the crash happened at around 1 p.m. on Highway 70, near Old Hickory Boulevard.

News Channel 5 explains the victim was heading eastbound on a 2007 Harley-Davidson motorcycle when a westbound truck hauling a trailer attempted to turn left in front of the bike. The motorcyclist didn’t have time to stop and collided with the trailer of the truck, leaving him dead at the scene.

This incident leaves many riders wondering what they can do to protect themselves from the dangers posed by other vehicles on the road. Some precautionary measures include:

  • Wear Protective Equipment– Helmets, eye protection, gloves, and a leather jacket can each help prevent injuries in the event of a motorcycle accident.
  • Get Educated– Training courses are available to teach motorcycle riders the rules of the road, as well as certain maneuvers that can be used to avoid crashes.
  • Be Vigilant– Bikers should assume other vehicles do not see them and ride accordingly.

At Ponce Law, our team of Nashville personal injury lawyers understands the importance of motorcycle safety and would like to send our deepest sympathies to the family of the victim of the crash.
