Boy Scout Killed in Tennessee Hit-and-Run Car Accident

Michael Ponce and his team of attorneys at Ponce Law are actively involved in The Boy Scouts of America. That is why we were devastated to learn that a local scout was killed in a Murfreesboro car accident last week.

Reports indicate the crash happened at around 1:40 p.m. on April 9, along I-24 near Smyrna, Tennessee. An article from The Tennessean explains the 13-year-old victim was changing the tire on the front driver’s side of his mother’s vehicle when a 33-year-old driver swerved to the side of the highway, striking the boy and his mother. The victims were transported to a local hospital, but the boy died before he could receive treatment. Meanwhile, the  driver responsible was arrested and is facing multiple charges.

The Boy Scouts have stated they will honor the young man by posthumously awarding him the Spirit of the Eagle Award, which will recognize his progress towards becoming an Eagle Scout that was cut short by the accident.

To help prevent roadside accidents, the Nashville Personal Injury Lawyers with Michael D. Ponce & Associates would like to remind citizens who are stopping on the side of the road to:

  • Move as far to the right of the shoulder of the road as possible.
  • Make sure your vehicle’s emergency flashers are on.
  • Always assume other drivers are distracted.
  • Call for emergency help if needed.

The firm sends their deepest condolences to the family of the victims.
