Courtroom Dramas: Not as Seen on TV

There’s nothing like a good courtroom drama. From Perry Mason to Law & Order, television has produced more courtroom dramas than you could ever watch in a lifetime. Although the specifics of each episode differ, the writers very rarely stray from the formula. A wrong is committed. Lawyers uncover the truth, and in a series of passionate theatrics, reveal that truth to the jury. Add in a few commercials, and you’ve just filled a solid one-hour time slot.

Believe it or not, the same formula plays out in personal injury law, albeit with less gravitas. As personal injury lawyers, we represent people every day who have been wronged. In their service, we uncover the truth, and if necessary, present that truth to a jury. However, personal injury cases rarely make it to the courtroom. Here’s why.

It is in the best interests of everyone involved that personal injury cases are settled outside of court. From the victim’s perspective, the sooner they can get paid for their injuries, the sooner they can put the accident behind them. Similarly, the insurance company would like to settle as quickly as possible to minimize legal costs and close another claim.

At Ponce Law, we do everything within our power to get our clients fair compensation for their injuries as quickly as possible. Most often that means settling outside of court for an amount we feel fully compensates our client. However, if the insurance company refuses to provide that compensation, then and only then will we file a lawsuit and take the fight to the courtroom. If you’ve been injured, give our Nashville car accident attorneys a call for a free consultation. We’ll investigate your accident and hold those responsible accountable.
