e-Cigarette Devices Lead to Serious Injuries

As more and more Nashville establishments are going smoke-free, many smokers are considering finally kicking the habit. Currently, a popular method is replacing traditional cigarettes with e-cigarettes. However, many e-cigarette users are finding that vaping can be even more dangerous.

Recent reports indicate that certain e-cigarette devices may catch fire or explode while charging and in use. Known incidents have resulted in severe injuries, including extensive burns, lacerations, loss of vision, finger amputations, and disfigurement. In addition to the risk of physical injury, defective e-cigarette devices can cause apartment or home fires that lead to hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of property damage.

The culprit is the lithium ion battery used in most e-cigarettes. These batteries have been known to overheat, either exploding or catching fire. The size of a AA battery, lithium ion batteries used in e-cigarettes are 20 times as powerful. Over two-thirds of incidents occur while these batteries are still on the chargers and unattended.

At Ponce Law, we’re committed to holding the manufacturers of these defective e-cigarette devices responsible for the damage their products cause. If you or someone you love has been injured by a defective e-cigarette, call our product liability lawyers today for a free evaluation of your claim. You have rights. Let us protect them.
