Takata Airbag Recall Expansion

In June, Japanese airbag manufacturer, Takata Corporation, initiated the recall of roughly 19 million vehicles due to a problem with the inflation system of driver and passenger front airbags. Now, the recall may soon be expanded to include side impact airbags as well. Investigators believe the chemical propellant used to inflate the airbags may change over time, causing units to break apart and hurl metal shrapnel at vehicle occupants when the unit is activated.

Diesel Volkswagen Recall

In September, it was announced that German carmaker, Volkswagen, was installing a piece of technology in their vehicles that is used to cheat emissions tests. The discovery has led to a decrease in the efficiency and value of the affected vehicles and has prompted the initiation of a Tennessee Volkswagen recall class action lawsuit.

GM Oil Leak Recall

Just yesterday, a statement was issued that General Motors (GM) would be recalling 1.4 million vehicles for a third time in order to repair oil leaks that have been known to ignite vehicle fires. WKRN News 2 reports that as many as 19 people have been injured as a result of the defect.
