Traffic fatalities in Tennessee have reached a low level in recent years. The Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security reports there were 961 fatalities resulting from Tennessee car accidents last year—the second lowest total since 1963.
What’s responsible for the dip in serious car accidents in our state? Michael D. Ponce is a Goodlettsville car accident attorney who founded Ponce Law. He points out that it has to do with the numerous safety campaigns the state sponsors throughout the year. Now, there’s a new way to get involved with the fight to keep our highways safe with a new contest.
The Tennessee Department of Transportation launched the Dynamic Message Sign Contest on January 5. The contest challenges citizens to submit a saying or slogan that promotes highway safety and can be displayed on one of the 163 electronic signs along the state’s roadways.
To participate, simply go to the TDOT webpage and type your message into the box provided. Submissions will be cut off on Jan. 16. The public will then have a chance to vote on the best messages from Jan. 26 to Feb. 6.
At Ponce Law, we recognize the important role public support plays in keeping Tennessee’s highways safe. That’s just one reason why our Tennessee personal injury lawyers can’t wait to see some of the slogans created as part of this fantastic contest.
