Middle Tennessee Teens Learning the Dangers of Distracted Driving Accidents

August 30, 2013

Data indicates that distracted driving is becoming one of the leading causes of serious auto accidents in the state of Tennessee. The Nashville Car Accident Attorneys with Michael D. Ponce & Associates explain that teenagers are one of the age groups most at risk.

Studies by the Department of Transportation show 21 percent of drivers between the ages of 15 and 19 years old involved in fatal collisions were distracted at the time of their accidents. This age group had the highest proportion of distracted drivers when compared to other age demographics.

In an effort to help prevent teenage distracted driving accidents here in Tennessee, a group of students from Franklin High School and Cheatham County Central High School recently participated in a program called “Be In The Zone”.

News Channel 5 states the program aims to teach students the devastating effects distracted driving can have on lives by having participants watch as medical staff attempts to revive a mock accident victim. Students also saw what it was like to be a victim of such an accident by using crutches and other props to simulate injuries common in distracted driving collisions.

The team of Nashville Personal Injury Lawyers with Ponce Law hope the program was successful in teaching teen drivers the dangers of distracted driving.
