Nashville Immigration Lawyers Discuss Assistance Available To Undocumented Aliens

August 23, 2013

A local member of the U.S. House of Representatives, Scott DesJarlais, was recently put on the spot at a town hall meeting held in Rutherford County by an 11-year-old girl asking how she could help keep her undocumented father in the United States. The Nashville Immigration Lawyers with Ponce Law say the clip has raised important questions regarding the assistance that is available to those who find themselves in the midst of an immigration claim.

The video clip shows the young girl coming forward and explain how she is documented, but her father is not. She goes on to ask what can be done to help keep her father in the country with her. The lawmaker then acknowledges the young girl’s bravery in coming forward to ask the question, but the responds with a statement explaining, “…we have laws and we need to follow those laws.”

While this statement is true, there is assistance available through the court system for undocumented immigrants. The process of determining how to go about receiving this assistance, through filings like asylum representations and family petitions, can be an extremely complex process though.

The Nashville Personal Injury Lawyers with Michael D. Ponce & Associates explain these complexities are why it is so important for undocumented workers to discuss their legal rights with a reputable attorney.
