Sport utility vehicles (SUVs) are popular for their spacious interiors and abilities in bad weather. But the vehicles have a high center of gravity that can make them susceptible to rolling over during accident. A recent SUV rollover accident in Nashville has some local drivers questioning how they can stay safe while driving SUVs.
WKRN-TV reports the crash happened around 3 a.m. on Saturday evening on Interstate 40 East. The driver of the SUV struck another car traveling in the same direction. The impact caused the SUV driver to lose control of the vehicle before hitting a guardrail and flipping over.
The driver of the car in the initial impact was not injured in the accident. Three female passengers from the SUV were taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Authorities are still investigating the causes of the crash.
The car accident lawyers at Michael D. Ponce & Associates remind drivers that accidents can happen in any vehicle, regardless of size or off-road capabilities. Try to limit distractions behind the wheel, and follow all suggested speed limits regardless of weather conditions.
