Avoid an Accident This New Year

New Year’s Eve is just around the corner, and many Tennesseans are making their plans for the holiday. To help make your holiday fun and safe, the Nashville personal injury lawyers at Ponce Law offer some suggestions that can help you avoid an accident.

Fireworks Safety

Each year, hundreds of injuries involving fireworks are reported around the New Year’s holiday. These injuries can range from burns to the loss of appendages.

To help avoid such injuries, we suggest leaving fireworks to the professionals. Here are several Tennessee fireworks displays that will be taking place on New Year’s Eve.

If you decide to set off your own fireworks, be sure to have a fire extinguisher readily available. Also, remember to never let children handle fireworks and to never attempt to pick up an undetonated product.

Drunk Driving Accidents

The number of crashes involving intoxicated motorists tends to spike around this time of year as well. To help reduce drunk driving accidents this year, Tennessee law enforcement will enact a “No Refusal” policy during the coming weekend. This means judges will be on hand to sign search warrants for blood and breath samples from suspected drunk drivers.

You can do your part to prevent drunk driving accidents by utilizing a designated driver to get home safely. It’s also important to report any suspected drunk drivers to the proper authorities.

Have a Safe and Happy New Year!

One of our missions at Ponce Law is to educate the public about the importance of always keeping safety in mind. We hope these tips help you to stay happy and accident-free into the New Year!
