The Free Ride You DO Want to Take From the Sheriff’s Department

March 19, 2014

St. Patrick’s Day is one of the deadliest times of year on Tennessee roads due to a large number of motorists who get behind the wheel after consuming alcohol. In fact, last year alone, a total of 13 motorists were killed in Tennessee Drunk Driving Accidents.

In an effort to help reduce that number this year, more than 300 volunteers gathered across the city of Nashville to offer free and safe rides home to those who have had too much to drink.

An article from Channel 5 News states that from 10:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. this past Monday night more than 300 rides were given from locations set up at second Avenue and Broadway, Demonbreun, Five Points in East Nashville, and Division Street. The no-questions-asked rides ensured more than 700 individuals were able to get home safely without drinking and driving.

These efforts were combined sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols across the city throughout the evening.

The Nashville Personal Injury Lawyers with Ponce Law recognize the dangers of drunk driving and applaud the efforts made by the volunteers and the Davidson County Sheriff’s Department to make sure those who were in town celebrating made it home to their loved ones!
