Worker Killed in Tennessee Construction Accident

January 20, 2014

Workers face risks in the construction industry face each day, but data indicates heavy equipment accidents may be one of the greatest on-the-job dangers. The Nashville Workers Compensation Lawyers with Ponce Law point out the Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates these accidents were responsible for approximately 15 percent of all workplace fatalities in 2012.

Recently, a 40-year-old construction worker was killed after being involved in a heavy equipment accident along I-40 in Fayette County. Reports indicate the incident occurred at approximately 9:30 a.m. on Saturday near exit 42.

According to an article published by The Jackson Sun, the victim was pinned between a boom lift and a bridge on the highway. The victim was freed and rushed to a local hospital by rescue crews, but he died shortly after arrival.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office and the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce have launched an investigation into the causes of the accident and if it could have been prevented.

In the meantime, Michael D. Ponce & Associates’ team of Nashville Personal Injury Lawyers understands the difficulties of losing a loved one due to an unforeseen work accident. That is why the firm would like to send their deepest sympathies to the family of the victim.
