New Year’s Eve is this week, and workers in Nashville are scrambling to prepare for the festivities. These preparations include road closings around the downtown area, which could lead to an increased chance of Nashville car accidents.

Reports from The Tennessean show that beginning on Monday, Dec. 29, Music City drivers should expect certain streets and roads to be closed to traffic. They include parts of Broadway and First Avenue on Monday to allow foot traffic for the Battle of the Bands and the Hot Chicken Eating World Championship. Then on Tuesday, the Woodland Street Bridge and Korean War Veterans Memorial Bridge will be closed for Music City Bowl festivities. Finally, numerous streets in the downtown vicinity will be blocked as part of the Bash on Broadway for New Year’s Eve.

Changing traffic patterns often lead to accidents, which is why the Nashville personal injury lawyers with Ponce Law offer these safety tips to motorists traveling around Nashville:

  • Buckle Up- Wearing a seat belt is the best way to protect yourself from harm in the event of a motor vehicle collision.
  • Stay Vigilant- Watch for pedestrians and other vehicles by looking twice in all directions before entering or changing lanes in traffic.
  • Don’t Drink and Drive- Keep yourself and others safe by arranging for a ride home if you plan on drinking.

We hope these tips help you and your loved ones to have safe travels over the next several days!
