CUMBERLAND COUNTY, TN – One driver was killed and another was injured when their vehicles collided head-on in western Cumberland County Wednesday night, according to 1057 News.
Authorities report the fatal accident involving two men from Sparta occurred on Highway 70 near the White County line. The Tennessee Highway Patrol said 20-year-old Darius Parks was driving a GMC Sierra when it went over the center line and crashed into a Chevy Silverado driven by 23-year-old Jason Scholl.
The Chevy rolled over and caught fire, and Scholl died from his injuries. Parks was airlifted to an area trauma center, but no details were immediately available on his condition.
Highway 70 was closed temporarily following the accident while traffic was diverted onto another roadway.
